I use Verizon online dsl. It is good but whenever my home phone rings and someone picks it up, my verizon online dsl stops working. Usually this happens for 30-40 seconds or so and then gets back to normal.

Anyone else have this problem? I thought you are not suppose to have these problems with DSL.

Two responders got it right. You need the splitter installed on every phone in the house. This device is a filter that prevents the digital DSL and analog voice phone signals from interfering with each other.

You should have received 3-5 of these with your DSL modem. Make sure one is installed on EVERY phone in the house.

I want to use my laptop to watch movies, videos and listen to music while I am working on my hp desktop. My desktop is connected to a dsl modem. I know I need a router, but I don’t know what type to get. What should I be looking for and how much should I have to pay for it? Many thanks for any suggestions… I am technologically challenged.

I went into the settings section, and it mentioned something about making sure that the speed is under the line capacity. How do you determine what that is? I have a DSL connection and I am having trouble with this process.

You can take an online speed test.
Room needs to be left for communications. It is best to cap upload in BitComet at 80% of overall upload capacity and, if you want, download at 90%.
