Mobile Broadband Dongle Test In Ireland |
The following videos are tests I’ve done to find the best mobile broadband provider within the Dublin area. Having almost gone bald due to the stress of finding a reliable Mobile Broadband provider here in the South Side of Dublin City I’ve decided to do trials on all available solutions and give you the results based on the final finding. Wish me luck

I will be Traveling Asia end of December and I have 7 hours stopover in DXB ( Dubai International Airport ). I? |
I will be Traveling Asia end of December and I have 7 hours stopover in DXB ( Dubai International Airport ). I will be arriving at the new Terminal 3. last time i went to DXB there was no Terminal 3. I will really appreciate it if someone been there can tell me if T3 is connected to Duty Free and how T is connected with T2 and T1 ? If someone can provide a ground map that will be great. Also, is T3 has free Internet connection? I remember from my last visit there was no Free wifi but only the computer boots with people waiting on big lines. Sorry to ask so many things in once.
Thanks.
Hiba.
All international terminals have Duty Free. I don’t see why T3 would be any exception.
There is free wireless internet throughout the airport too.
Try the airport’s website for a map.

Covering a 5 mile radius with WIFI? What would it take? |
I seen some information online about cities providing city wide wifi access. What would it take to provide access to a 5 mile radius? If you had an antenna in the middle it would only need to reach 2.5 miles out each direction.
How would one go about setting up a large WIFI network like this. I understand it would take at least several T1 connections on the backside, but I cain’t find any detailed info online, about how far various antennas reach. Can someone that actually knows what they are talking about kind of tell me the antenna I would need, as well as other equipment that would be required.
I am looking for professional advice, no nonsense answers from idiots that are just running there mouth, or think they know stuff when they don’t. I have a advanced knowledge of networking, and WIFI, but I am not an expert so please only productive responses.
You are correct! I worded my info wrong. The radius is 2.5 Miles, which would be 5 miles across.
A single antenna in the middle of a circle with a 5 mile radius would need to reach 5 miles in every direction, not 2.5
Actually, though, many access points are used, not just one. And I suspect there’s some overlap in the areas they cover, so that if one goes down, its neighbors can pick up the work. We almost had such a network here, but it didn’t work out. As I remember, there were access points every block or two.
Hope that helps.

Wifi Range?? |
How far with my 18Dbi omni Directional Antenna can i send a signal? In terms if feet, I know it depends upon interference and conditions, but i am looking for a rough estimate..
Also what is the Best routers to use for maximum users, I have a T1 connection..
Well the range largely depends on the power you are delivering to the antenna. The gain of the antenna + power = the radiated power so what you feed the antenna with makes a very large difference in range. As does the location of the antenna – indoors or outdoors. (Indoor antennas are highly limited in range by the building they are within.)
If you feed it with a normal household router you are feeding 30-50mw of power. Your range is probably about 1/4 mile.
If you feed it with a more commercial grade wifi router that could be improved to say 400mw which is several times more and that much more coverage area.
Also how much cable is between the antenna and the router?
The max allowed ERP has to be below the Fed Rules. If you are at the MAX for the rules then you can send the signal for miles. (It is line of site but that covers a lot of territory)
One of the easiest to use routers for public wifi use is the
AirEpoch Wireless gateway. It has user management/radius built in and can isolate wireless from wired users etc. Its output is 400mw at the high setting and allows other settings.
Hope that helps
